The Missing Card
The Effect
The magician appears to have messed up his trick, and asks the spectator to find their card from the deck.
However, the spectator's card is not found in the deck, it is lying on the table.
How It's Done
Using the glide: Move the selected card so that it is second to bottom of the deck. Show the spectator the bottom card
of the deck and ask "is this your card?", look disappointed when they say "no". Quickly perform the glide and put the spectator's
card face down on the table, the spectator will think that this is the card they just said was not theirs. Look sad
and tell the spectator that you give up and hand over the deck while asking for the spectator to show you their card.
Obviously the spectator will not
find the card in the deck, once the spectator gives up looking (hopefully they will look through the deck a few
times actually believing that you had messed up the trick), point to the facedown card on the table and grin.
Using the double lift: Move the selected card to the top of the deck. Perform the double lift and ask the spectator if it is their card, they will say "no". Place the two cards back on the deck, and place the top card (spectator's card) face down on the table, the rest is the same as above.
